Herde anonimo, makes a grand statement. It is an example of Morante's best work and her ability to give each animal she paints a distinct personality.
Gladys Morante was born in Peru in 1963. In her early years, she harbored resentment towards anything related to horses. Her father was a professional jockey who was obsessed with the world of horse racing, and this inevitably caused some strife within the family.
Ironically, Morante's views on horses completely reversed, when at he age of fourteen she met a horse portrait painter with whom she developed a strong and lasting friendship. She was encouraged to join the School of Arts where she eventually graduated with honors.
Morante's paintings are characterized by a sense of majesty and motion. The artist attempts to capture the sheer power, grace and magnificence of horses. Her paintings are full of intense emotion, yet at the same time are a loving and tender tribute.
Morante has participated in numerous exhibitions in both North and South America. The more notable exhibits include the Embssy of Spain, the United States Embassy, El Museo d la Nacion, Galeria Borkas and the Russian Cultural Institute. |
